TUTOR BIO

Lewis began drum kit lessons at age 11, whilst attending Wirral Grammar School for Boys, playing drumkit in the school concert band and Timpani/Percussion in the orchestra. He studied there for 5 years before attending Wirral Metropolitan College to study Music further, specifically live performance. He then moved to London in 2015, studying at BIMM (British Institute of Modern Music) to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Popular Music Performance in 2018.
He then spent the next 2 years as a professional musician performing across the UK with various artists, from festivals to private function gigs, including styles ranging from Jazz, Folk, Pop and Blues, specialising in Rock, Funk and Metal.
Having taught privately for a number of years, Lewis is now a full-time drum and percussion teacher, amongst his various gigging commitments.

How We Teach Music Lessons

Lessons can stick to a formal grading but many of our students choose to learn via a more informal song based method, learning to play through the songs they love. The two methods can also be combined at the preference of the pupil. So, jam through a favourite song one week; learn a grading piece the next.

Lessons can be tailored to your specific needs through song-based learning, but if you’d like a more structured learning process we also offer the Rock School music grades and traditional grades. Rockschool Music grades are the world's first Music Graded Syllabus that focuses on the more current, contemporary rock and pop genres for your performance pieces. With this, you can develop your playing skills, playing songs that you or your child recognize rather than the sometimes more un-inspiring classical pieces, whilst still achieving an accredited qualification.
